The standing committee on security and inter-parliamentary Relations would commence its activities in resolving the age-long communal clashes between Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun communities.
The committee, chaired by Honourable Tajudeen Adeyemi, Chairman of the House Committee on Security and Inter-Parliamentary Relations, was inaugurated during the plenary session by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Egbedun.
The committee would explore the allotted period to interface with the affected communities, elicit their views and opinions, and collate evidence to substantiate their claims. The committee's hearing is scheduled to commence next week.
The committee urges all affected parties to appear before it at the Osun State House of Assembly complex with evidence to support their claims and help resolve the crisis.
According to Right Honourable Egbedun, the committee's primary objective is to find a lasting solution to the crisis and ensure the well-being and sanctity of human life, which is paramount to the State House of Assembly.
Recall that the Osun State House of Assembly had, during its plenary session on Monday, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke's swift action in restoring peace to the affected communities.
Deputy Majority Leader, Prince Emmanuel Oladimeji, expressed appreciation to Governor Ademola Adeleke for visiting the affected areas and providing relief materials to cushion the effect of the curfew, describing the development as highly commendable."
