Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered security agencies to take immediate action to restore peace in the warring Ifon and Ilobu communities. He also called on the peace committee to revive the existing peace agreement.
In a statement released on Friday, the state government condemned the renewed clashes and directed the joint security task force to intervene without delay. Governor Adeleke, expressing concern over the politicization of the conflict, instructed security operatives to track down those instigating violence and ensure they are held accountable.
He further emphasized the need for an immediate end to hostilities to safeguard lives and properties. The Governor, frustrated by repeated violations of peace accords, warned that his administration would enforce strict measures in the buffer zone between the two communities if the violence persisted.
Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke is currently engaging with security and political stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the longstanding crisis, which predates his tenure.
