The Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, arrived in Osun State on Tuesday for an official engagement. He was warmly received by the Executive Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
His visit centers on his role as the Guest Lecturer at the maiden edition of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Annual Lecture—an initiative designed to drive meaningful discourse on education financing in Nigeria.
The lecture, themed “Interrogating Funding of Education: Global versus Nigerian Perspectives,” is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 12:00 noon, and will take place at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium on the university’s main campus in Osogbo.
Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila, who previously served as Speaker of the House of Representatives, will offer a comparative analysis of international and domestic approaches to education funding, drawing on his legislative and policy experience.
In a statement ahead of the event, the Vice Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, highlighted the significance of the lecture, describing it as a “bold initiative by the university to inspire critical dialogue on sustainable education financing, tailored to Nigeria’s unique context.”
The event is expected to attract a high-profile audience, including academics, policymakers, traditional rulers, diplomats, industry stakeholders, and representatives from civil society, all aiming to contribute to lasting solutions for the country’s educational funding challenges.
